Wedding Photography & Services FAQs

How does the one-week guarantee work?

It’s pretty simple. If we don’t have your completed wedding photos to you by the following Saturday at 11:59 pm, we’ll refund half of your services fee.

How are you able to flip weddings so quickly?

Unlike most wedding photography businesses, we utilize a team approach with up to three people shooting the wedding, one person handling booking and marketing, and a dedicated editor. This not only allows us to streamline and quicken turnaround times, but keeps our employees happy and high-performing in the aspects of photography and business they find most interesting.

How much does it cost to shoot a wedding?

Prices vary based on client needs, ranging anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000. Specifics that could influence price include number of photographers, time on shoot, extras such as engagement sessions, travel expenses, albums, and other client requests specified within a photography agreement.

What is included in a wedding photography agreement?

Like price, the end product will vary by client. Because we shoot differently than traditional wedding photographers, we typically put more effort into each individual photo. While we certainly provide full and comprehensive coverage of your wedding, we may not necessarily produce as many photos as other photographers. However, we feel we create more quality photos than the average photographer, capturing your big day like no one else. With that in mind, we think the total number of photos is irrelevant and often used as a crutch for less talented photographers. All that said, expect no fewer than 150 high-quality, individually (not batch) edited photos, which is more than enough to tell a wedding story if shot well. Think of us like a chef making a few really good tacos for a sit-down dinner vs. Taco Bell flinging a taco out the drive-thru window every 30 seconds. Agreements may include time expectations, which usually include a “start-to-finish” arrangement so we can tell the whole story of your day; a breakdown of expenses; number of photographers, up to three; wedding day discretion guidelines (how much do you want us to be seen); must-have photos; travel and food costs; etc. All said and done, we really want you to be satisfied with our work and we’ll be as transparent as possible about your role as a client and our processes.

Will I be able to choose my own photos from those you took at my wedding?

Not if you want them in one week. We’ve had a lot of practice choosing the right photos for our clients and they’ve been overwhelmingly happy with our choices in the past. Culling photos is a time-consuming process. We’ll communicate extensively about your expectations before your wedding and make sure you get the photos you want. You’re busy doing the things you’re good at, so let us remove a little stress in your life being good at what we’re good at—making sure you get the best wedding photos possible.

Do you do engagement/wedding/bridal announcement sessions?

In short, not typically, but yes. Many of our clients are from out of town or having destination weddings. If you’re local to Salt Lake City, we can arrange engagement/bridal photos.

How do you deliver wedding photos?

We’ll provide you with two memory cards or USB drives with all of your edited JPGs and your unedited RAW files. That way, you can always access your files and have unedited files edited later if you desire. (We’ll also keep copies of your photos in case you somehow lose them. Think of this as free photo insurance.)

Do you scout wedding locations?

Absolutely. We’ll typically scout a location 2–4 weeks before a wedding if it’s local to Salt Lake. If we’re travelling, we’ll arrive at least a day early so we know exactly how and where we’ll be shooting, making your day (and ours) much more fun and efficient.

What happens if we’re sick or unable to shoot your wedding?

We’ve never had this happen, but in the event we’re unable to shoot your wedding, we’ll provide a full refund. Jeff is a health nerd who takes his physical and mental health very seriously. It would take our plane crashing for him not to show up at your wedding.

How far in advance should we book?

The early bird gets the worm. We’ve typically booked out at least six months in advance, often booking a year ahead or more. If you’re getting married in the summer or fall, the sooner you book everything, the easier your life will be. That said, we might have a hole in the schedule for a short-notice wedding so it never hurts to ask!

Do you play nice with other vendors and wedding planners?

First, we love wedding planners. They’ll make your wedding day run much more smoothly and provide photographers with solid timelines and guidelines. If you have one, great. We can’t wait to meet them. We get along fabulously with everyone from videographers and DJs to decorators and servers.

How involved are you in the actual wedding and the day?

Our typical style does require us to be seen as we work, though we’ll respect your boundaries, especially during the ceremony. In most cases, you’re just going about your wedding day while we kind of “hover” nearby. We try our best not to stage photos outside of portraits. We’ll always ask our clients what their boundaries are during each portion of a wedding day and adhere to our clients’ requests for discretion. But if you want photos in the shower, we’re not afraid to get wet so to speak. If you prefer more privacy than our style typically allows, reach out anyway. Jeff has shot plenty of weddings where more discretion was requested. He has a separate portfolio for those weddings that he’d be happy to share with you.

Can you accommodate special requests or cultural traditions?

Give us a reason to make your wedding photos better and we’ll take it. We love adventure and the crazier and more colorful your wedding gets the better. Wanna ride an elephant? We’re in. Wanna skydive? We’ll jump too. Have a cultural custom? We’ll partake. We love capturing people doing the things they love so tell us about your special request and we’ll capture memories you’ll never forget.

Are you insured?

Many wedding venues require insurance and we want to be able to take care of anything that happens to a client through our fault so we carry business insurance. (No one has ever been hurt—through our fault—at any wedding we’ve shot. Though some have drank their way into some injuries.)

Payments and Deposits

Deposits

Because we blackout your wedding day out as soon as you sign an agreement, more or less committing not to shoot any other wedding on that day, we ask that you provide half of your total fee as a deposit upon contract signing. Should your wedding be cancelled or rescheduled for any reason, this deposit will not be refunded. Please make sure you want to get married. Of the dozens of weddings Jeff has shot, only one has ever been cancelled, so this probably won’t be an issue.

Final Payment

Final payment is due at the end of the wedding day. We’ll accept credit/debit cards, Venmo, & PayPal (an additional 3.0%-3.5% charge); as well as cash or check ($150 fee for any returned checks). You’ll then receive your wedding photos within seven days. We have to safeguard ourselves against the possibility that we won’t get paid for all of our hard work so we require payment in full before heading home after your wedding.
